Pause Days

What Are Pause Days?
Pause days let you take planned breaks from habit tracking. When a day is paused, habits aren't counted as missed.
When to Use Pause Days
- Vacation: Traveling and can't maintain routines
- Holidays: Family time without tracking pressure
- Rest days: Planned recovery or mental health days
- Events: Weddings, conferences, special occasions
How Pause Days Work
When you pause a day:
- Habits show as gray (paused) instead of incomplete
- The day doesn't count against streaks
- No stars can be earned (but none are lost)
- It's clear this was intentional, not a miss
Setting a Pause Day
- Go to the Grid page
- Click the calendar icon or access settings
- Select the date(s) to pause
- Optionally add a reason (e.g., "Vacation")
- Save
Pause Day Limits
- Free users: Up to 5 pause days per month
- Premium users: Unlimited pause days
Best Practices
Do Use Pause Days For:
- Planned breaks you know about in advance
- Genuine rest and recovery
- Travel where tracking isn't realistic
Don't Use Pause Days For:
- Days you just didn't feel like tracking
- Avoiding accountability
- Every day you miss (use failure tags instead)
Pause vs. Failure Tags
| Pause Days | Failure Tags | |------------|-------------| | Planned ahead | After the fact | | Full day break | Per-habit tracking | | No stars possible | Could still complete other habits | | Vacation, rest | Forgot, busy, sick |
Transparency
Pause days are visible in your grid as gray dots. This keeps your record honest while giving you flexibility.
